| The a market town of Totnes, at the head of the estuary of the River Dart in Devon, is situated between Exeter in the North and Plymouth in the South, with easy access to the large connubation that is Torbay on the coast in the East and the wilds of Dartmoor in the West.
Totnes has a long recorded history, dating back to 907 AD when its first castle was built; it was already an important market town by the 12th century and indications of its former wealth and importance are given by the number of merchants' houses built in the 16th and 17th centuries. Today, with its population of some 8,000, Totnes is a thriving centre for music, art, theatre and natural health. It has a sizeable alternative community, and is known as a place where one can live a bohemian lifestyle, often considered a town of “european feel” it is one of the country’s most well known and visited tourist towns too.
The practice grew rapidly as the level of care being offered became known and following Dr Hocken leaving to pursue life coaching for which he has now become nationally renowned; it fell to his friend and colleague, Dr Angela Lindsay to use her aesthetic strengths, to further develop the practice. Practicing with a number of associates she too felt the need to fulfill her life’s passions, this time, that of writing. She left to write the novel that she had always promised she would and so passed on the baton to Dr Stephen Bray who had returned to England from a successful period of practice in Western Canada.
The practice has recently been taken over by Professor St John Crean and Dr. Mitesh Badiani. They took over the practice upon Dr Bray’s leaving for America and the Riverview name and ideology remain. In order to continue to provide the high standard of clinical care established and expected there, Drs. Crean and Badiani engaged Dr Anna-Marie Smith, Dr Andrew Pickering and Dr Karen Hanbury, all local clinicians of the highest standing, to provide this care and ensure a smooth transition for all.
The future looks rosy for Riverview Dental and everyone looks forward to the promising future there Thanks are due to all those who have added their own unique characteristics to the practice and to the many, many patients who have come to trust the care provided there. Long may we continue to provide this level of care to them all.
